Detoxing your way to health...By Jayne Walker Spring is a time of change, after a long winter, we open the windows and we let the sun and fresh air come in to our homes and our hearts. When we embark on a cleansing programme all we are doing is harnessing this natural process. Detoxification can mean the elimination of anything that is not needed anymore, for example excess sugar & salt, alcohol, chemicals from the environment, or even emotional stress.- leading to over acidic conditions. 1.Start by increasing the amount of pure water to 2 litres a day. 2.Use a body brush every morning to boost the lymphatic waste disposal system. Brush in long strokes towards the heart. 3.Add a tablespoon of sea salt or Himalayan mountain salt to your bathing water. 4.Aromatherapy massage and Hot stone massage is a wonderful way to increase circulation & the flow of healing energy. Use essential oils like Fennel, Lime, Rosemary, Juniper or Grapefruit for bathing. 5.Give your system a break from mucous forming wheat and dairy. 6.Keep meals light and nutritious-fruit for breakfast- fish rather than meat ,soups, salads, steamed vegetables, wholegrain rice, oats, quinoa and barley are excellant internal cleansers and help to counter over-acidity. 7.Replace tea and coffee with herbal teas and coffee substitutes such as Dandelion root. 8.Take gentle exercise such as walking, swimming or yoga. 9.The Lemon Tree detox drink (Madal Bal) can be taken as an aid to rejuvenation and boosts metabolism. 10.Herbal tincture Milkthistle is supportive as your liver works harder to purify your body. 11.Take time out to rest every day & listen to soothing music. 12.Finally-if you're feeling brave, a hydrotherapy colon cleanse is a great way to start and finish ( not as bad as it sounds- honest!) Jayne Walker is a Holistic Therapist of 20 years experience. She uses gentle yet powerful techniques for a smooth healing journey. |
